Kwigema Foundation's Health Education & HIV/AIDS Prevention program achieved a significant milestone with its first community testing drive. Working alongside local health workers and community volunteers, our team organized testing centers in five village locations across Kishapu District. The three-day campaign used music, drama, and community dialogue to address stigma and encourage people to know their status. Over 1,200 residents participated in voluntary counseling and testing services. "We were nervous at first, but the community embraced this initiative warmly," said our Community Welfare Officer. "People came in groups — families, neighbors, friends — showing that reducing stigma starts with community solidarity." Those who tested positive were immediately connected to antiretroviral therapy at partner health facilities. Follow-up visits are planned to ensure continuity of care and ongoing education. We are grateful to our health partners and community volunteers whose dedication made this campaign a success. The next drive is planned for Q3 2025.
