About Kwigema Foundation
A registered Tanzanian NGO on a mission to restore hope and empower vulnerable communities through sustainable, community-led development.
From a Community Need to a National NGO
Kwigema Foundation was born out of a recognition that many communities lack affordable and sustainable pathways to improve their lives. Observing the growing inequality and absence of alternative approaches to community wellbeing, our founders came together with a shared conviction: communities themselves hold the solutions — they simply need support to unlock their potential.
On March 10, 2025, Kwigema Foundation was officially registered as a Non-Governmental Organization under Tanzania's NGO Act (Cap. 56, 2002), with registration number 00NGO/R/8156. Our headquarters are located in Maganzo Ward, Kishapu District, Shinyanga Region, Tanzania.
We operate under the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, Elderly and Special Groups — aligned with the national development vision and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Legal Framework
Kwigema Foundation is registered under Tanzania's Non-Governmental Organizations Act, providing the legal framework for our operations.
Our work is anchored in Article 20 of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, ensuring community rights and civic participation.
All our programs are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Tanzania Development Vision 2050.
We operate under the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, Elderly and Special Groups of Tanzania.
